Gifted striker, not really known for his goalscoring but has made a name for himself in the football league and has played Premiership football for Arsenal and Bradford City. Originally signed for Grimsby on loan from Barnsley in February 2004 as part of the transfer deal that took Michael Boulding to Oakwell. After a few games joined The Mariners permanently but left to join Brentford at the end of the season. Rankin re-signed for Grimsby in June 2006 signing a two year deal.
Isaiah made his break into football for Premiership side Arsenal and was promoted from the youth team to the first team by manager Arsene Wenger, who was in his first season at Highbury, the 96-97 campaign.
After making only the one apperance for The Gunners and spending a loan period with Colchester United "Izzy Ranks" joined Bradford City for £1.3million in July 1998. Izzy was not a regular at Bradford and also made apperances for Bolton Wanderers and Birmingham City on loan before joining Barnsley for £350,000 in January 2001. Rankin never made the grade at Oakwell and moved to Grimsby in 2004 where he went on to play for Brentford before returning to Blundell Park.
