The Scotsman's visit to the surgeon on Monday revealed that surgery wasn't needed at the minute and the damaged fibres should heal.
A steroid injection is been used to help the process and the 3 goal man is delighted at avoiding the surgeon's knife.
"It's a big weight off my shoulders. They didn't operate and that's why I'm delighted," Anderson told the Grimsby Telegraph.
"We have to see how it settles down. If it does the surgeon said I could be training in three weeks - though I'm not sure if he means running or joining in.
"If it doesn't get any better in a fortnight I have to go and see and maybe have the op.
"I didn't ever think it was that bad and it saves me getting cut up!
"I've got another two games of my suspension and then, hopefully, I won't miss many more.
"I'll be back at the ground in the next couple of days to start getting some treatment."
