The Welsh international is out of contract and has looked unlikely to sign, despite Town making an offer at the end of last season.
The 32-year-old has already stated he doesn't want to play in League Two, but with no known offers from higher leagues he may well opt to stay with Town.
Graham Rodger told MarinersNet: "Darren came in yesterday and had a chat with the manager. He's assessing the market and having a look at his options. It's nice to see him, he looks fit. He hasn't joined in with the training. He had a chat with the manager and I think we'll see what develops from there."
