Boulding bid rejected

Boulding has a clause in his contract granting him permission to talk to any club that offers £45,000. However it is thought that clause is only activated by a club from a higher division.

Furneaux has already laughed off a £50,000 bid from Peterborough for the striker, his latest comments suggest that the Tykes offer was in the same region.

"We will not be exploited by Barnsley or any football club who think they can make offers such as the one they made for Michael," Furneaux said.

"Peter Ridsdale is an experienced man but what he and Barnsley offered was nowhere near what the market value is for a player of Michael Boulding's ability."

Boulding is out of contract in the summer and it is unlikely that he will be keen to stay in the second division for another season.
