Boulding out for six weeks

Boulding asked to leave the Mariners following the sacking of Paul Groves last month after Barnsley's initial interest was kept at bay.

Despite hitting 13 goals before his departure, Boulding struggled in his last two months with no goals in 2004.

Boulding's time with the Tykes has yet to bring his success. The former tennis pro has started five games with no goals so far. In those five starts the Yorkshiremen have picked up just two points. Boulding's only other apperance in the red shirt came as a sub in the 6-1 thrashing by Town at Blundell Park.

The 28-year-old is now facing a long layoff after picking up a knee injury during the South Yorkshire derby defeat to Sheff Wed at the weekend.

“Michael played the full game at Hillsborough and he did not think the problem was a serious as it was," Tykes boss Paul Hart told the clubs website.
