Crane's 16th minute dismissal gave his team-mates an uphill task, but Jevons two wonder strikes earned a point and saved Crane's blushes.
The giant stopper was the first to praise Jevons for his goals, but his compliments were somewhat unusual.
"Jevvo's two goals were different gravy," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "He should be playing a higher level than this.
"You see him do things in training that are fantastic. He did one in that game where he jumped over the lad with the ball. It was unbelievable.
"He does little bits and bobs like that every day in training.
"The first one was an absolute peach of a goal. When Jevvo lines up no-one begrudges him the chance. He can shoot from 40 yards and, if it goes over the top, all the lads are saying 'hang on, it's okay, it's Jevvo'.
"He's entitled to shoot from there because he can score from there."
