Donovan plays down return

The sight of Donovan training with Town this week was always going to spark talk of a return, but Donovan insists he hasn't even spoke of a return with Paul Groves.

"At the moment I've still got one more thing to tie up at Barnsley and then I'm a free agent," Donovan told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"When that's done I'll be looking for a club. I spoke to Grovesy and asked him if I could come back and train.

"We haven't even spoken about me staying. He's got a big squad and plenty of people down the right so it's not even in my mind.

"I'm just training with the lads to get fit. It's just for fitness.

"When I'm sorted out I'll be open to anything but any talk other than that is irrelevant. I still have things to sort out before I can commit to anywhere."

Groves has refused to comment on the former Wembley, but the 31-year-old admits he has a few interested parties already.

"There are a couple of other clubs that have contacted me and I'll be going there in the next fortnight as well," he added.

"I'm in full training and I enjoyed training with the lads yesterday. It didn't feel too bad to be back and I still know quite a few of the players so it was easier than going somewhere completely different."
