Double injury blow for Groves

Anderson has impressed the fans and management alike since his free transfer move from Preston in the summer, the winger would now be serving a three game suspension for his red card against Port Vale, but is instead looking at a possible 2 months out with a cartilage sustained against Luton.

Mansaram limped out of the reserve game against York with a groin injury and whilst no date has been set on his return, the Bristol City game at the weekend is out of the question.

"We're unsure about Darren's injury at the moment," Groves told Mariners Net. "He said he felt something go. At this moment in time we're trying to arrange a scan to try and find out what the injury is."

With just Michael Boulding, Jonny Rowan and Laurens Ten Heuvel as the available strikers, Groves may be tempted to give either Liam Nimmo a place in the travelling party. Graham Hockless is likely to be in the squad and is capable of playing off the front man but is untried as an out-and-out striker.

Groves also cast doubt on Ten Heuvel's future at the club by admitting that the move wasn't progressing as he'd hoped.

"Laurens was taken on loan with a view to a permanent, but at this moment in time it hasn't worked out how everybody would like. That's an ongoing saga at this moment in time and we'll just have to see how it develops," Groves added.

The Dutchman has yet to impress the Town fans so far but Groves still appears to be keen on snapping him up on a free transfer from Sheffield United.
