Substitute Ashley Chambers grabbed the winner in the last minute to seal a 3-2 win and give Woods' side renewed hope of escaping the drop to the Blue Square Premier. Grimsby twice led through Jamie Devitt and Michael Coulson only to be pegged back by goals from Lee Bradbury and Liam Feeney.
Woods said: "I'm very pleased with the three points, which were vital, and the performance and even more pleased with the attitude of the players.
"We have gone in front twice and been pegged back twice and the players showed what it meant to them. They never gave up from the first minute to the last and their resolve was rewarded.
"We dominated the game for the first half hour. I was disappointed with the 15 minutes before half-time but you have to remember they (Bournemouth) are second in the league.
"We gave away a poor goal but we refocused for the second half. And at 2-1 up we were totally in control. You can't legislate for the next goal, but the response from the players to get one of their teammates out of trouble was terrific. Last week Nick Colgan kept us in the game and we dug him out this week. That's what squads do that have the right spirit."
