Groves finally made his Iron debut at the weekend in the 3-0 win over Yeovil, earning rave reviews too.
The 37-year-old could have been playing his trade over the bank though with Taylor making noises before opting to sign his favourite player, Junior Lewis.
Taylor has signed Lewis for Gillingham, Leicester, Brighton and now Hull. In fact Groves tried to sign Lewis last season on loan but the then Leicester man rejected the move.
"I did consider signing him (Groves) two or three weeks ago because I wanted an 'old head' in midfield," Taylor told the Hull Daily Mail.
"He's got a lot of experience and is a good professional. In the end, though, I made an enquiry for Junior Lewis at about the same time. Suddenly, I was told he was available so I signed him."
Groves and Lewis will meet in the Humber derby on Saturday......Go on Grovsie!
