The popular frontman is desperate for first team football and admitted that he may be forced to look for a move away from the club, if he's not given a chance.
Groves has responded by saying the player will get his chance, but he's not sure when as he continues with the 'big man - little man' system up front. A system he doesn't feel Jevons fits in with.
"Jevvo has done well in the Reserves," Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph. "He's sharp in training. I'm sure at some stage he will get his chance," said Groves, of the forward who has made just three brief substitute appearances since returning to form and fitness.
"But we need somebody to be able to secure that ball at times and make it stick up there. Jevvo is a different type of player to that.
"He plays off people's shoulders and tries to play off people. We'll look at it.
"We're well aware of what he's doing in training and the goals he's scored.
"He can do no more. I'm sure his chance will come. You don't go through a season where everybody is fit and everyone is playing well and you're winning week-in, week-out.
"He'll get his opportunity. He has to make sure he's ready and that he takes it when it comes around."
