Groves was sacked as manager on Monday, but in a disappointing move from the board kept on as a player.
The situation leaves Groves in an embarassing situation, a situation which he has no intention of facing.
The board have come under criticism for not completing the job of sacking Groves, many feel the board are simply trying to humilate Groves for the sake of saving money on his contract.
Scunny, managed by ex-Town boss, Brian Laws are on the lookout for an experienced midfielder. And Groves could well fit the bill, Laws is well aware of Groves' abilities having managed him for 18 months before he was sold to West Brom for £600,000.
Groves' experience would be an ideal counter balance for the Iron's youthful team. Groves is likely to welcome any move which would mean he can avoid a move away from the area.
