The skillful 22-year-old emerged from last season as one of the very few bright lights in an otherwise dark season, that despite a lack of first team action.
It wasn't just the crowd who noticed his abilities though, the likes of Hull City and Doncaster Rovers were rumoured to have made offers to Hockless with many accepting he would leave the Mariners.
Russell Slade made an improved contract offer for Hockless once he took over as boss and his persistence has paid off with the little magician signing a one-year deal.
Hockless will now look to make himself a first team regular rather than the cameo player he was of last season. With Slade seemingly favouring attacking tactics to the defensive ones employed by Paul Groves and Nicky Law, Hockless will no doubt have a key role to play.
