Hockless: Is Australia the answer?
The one player Town struggled and struggled to sign 10 months ago looks set for a simple farewell. Graham Hockless was not going to sign on this season after impressing largely in the season previous.

However Russell Slade finally convinced him to sign up and a 1 year deal was drawn up. Hockless joined Grimsby in July 2001 after his release from the youth setup at Hull City. However he did not make an apperance in the first time till the last but one game of the 2002/2003 season away at Reading.

The following season Hockless put himself about and shone in the games he got a chance in, by the end of the season he had made a name for himself and was the clubs golden boy. Mainly used as a super-sub on many occasion, Hocko was normally a 65th minute sub who would run rings round the tired defender's and his excellent cross that found Isaiah Rankin in the 1-0 win over Brentford over a year ago nearly kept Town up.

With a decent reputation, Hockless nearly moved to Bradford and back to Hull, but convinced he would be a regular he stayed at Grimsby. However after a stinker of a season, barely any chances and a 1 month loan at Conference side Leigh R.M.I, Hocko is probably kicking himself for signing a contract 10 months ago.

Russell Slade told the Official Website "I've now spoken to every single
Digger:Another chance to shine!
player and we now know where we stand.

"I've spoken to Graham Hockless, and Graham is looking at his future-perhaps not even in this country, he revealed he has the intention of maybe be going to Australia or somewhere like that"

Also it looks set that David Soames also may get another chance next season which would be his 4th season at Blundell Park, and maybe it could be his first as a regular?

Slade said "We've invited Digger Soames back for pre-season training, we haven't offered him a contract yet but we think that he deserves another chance"
