Mariners boss Russell Slade is well aware of Marcelle's abilities, having signed him last year for former club Scarborough.
The 35-year-old arrived on the English scene in 1996 at Barnsley, where his pace and style caught the eye as the Tykes raced to an unlikely promotion to the Premier League.
Despite a superb first season, the little forward/winger never backed it up with another and was sent on loan to Scunthorpe before joining Hull in 1999. As with so many players at Hull in the late 90's, Marcelle struggled in the few apperances he was given before moving onto Darlington.
More disappointment followed at Feethams and non-league beckoned as Hucknall Town took over his contract. From there Marcelle joined Stevenage before signing for 'Boro last October.
With Slade's departure from The Seadogs to join Town, Marcelle was offered a player-coach role but only on a month-to-month contract. Instead Marcelle opted for a last chance at the Football League following an invitation by Slade. Marcelled also rejected contract offers from Northwich Victoria and Leigh RMI to link up with Town.
