The former England midfielder was left shaking his head at the defeat and was unable to even point the finger of blame.
"We had an okay first half, but I certainly needed to change the shape at half-time to give us a chance of winning," McMahon said.
"We came out all guns blazing and how we did not score is beyond me.
"We played some of our best football of the season and still ended up being mugged."
