Mini injury crisis looming for Town

Slade has already had to deal with a shortage of centrebacks so far this season, but the problems facing him this week put that into the shade.

With Tony Crane, Greg Downey and Rob Jones sat on the sidelines Slade could well do without Simon Ramsden (neck) and Justin Whittle (back) facing late fitness tests.

Ramsden passed a late test to be fit for the Wigan game whilst Whittle battled through the game despite hurting his back in the first half.

Greg Young wasn't even on the bench on Tuesday and is almost certain to miss out on Saturday, the strapping centreback was in a great deal of pain watching the game, nevermind playing.

That will leave Slade with just rookie Dean Gordon and Kirk Wheeler as his options. Wheeler has yet to make his Town debut whilst Gordon hasn't been rested since arriving, despite not having much of a pre-season.

Up front Andy Parkinson is struggling with his knee and Michael Reddy is still having problems with his groin. That could leave the door open for either Clint Marcelle, Darren Mansaram, Graham Hockless or David Soames.
