Slade made enquiries about the ex-Chesterfield man in the summer but denied he is about to bring Reeves to Blundell Park.
"I did show an interest in David in the summer when I was assembling the squad and I spoke to him again early in the season. But there has been no contact for a few weeks," Slade told the Grimsby Telegraph.
Town fans will remember Reeves from his hat-trick against Town in the 4-4 draw against Chesterfield last season.
