Jevons return to the starting line-up, after almost two years away, has come in an unfamiliar left wing role. But the former Everton man has repsonded brilliantly with 2 goals in the 3 games he's played that role.
His performance against Oldham gave Town hope of finally getting a capable left winger. The wide berth has proved a problem for Town in recent years, not since the days of Dave Gilbert have we had a regular performer.
Many fans are calling for Jevons to be placed up front, alongside Michael Boulding. But Rodger feels by playing Jevons on the wing, the team has more chance of goals. And Jevons isn't getting muscled out the game.
"What Phil Jevons does, he gives you the possibility of more goals on the pitch." Rodger told BBC Humberside.
"He does want to score goals, he does want to get on the end of things. He isn't playing down the middle, he isn't up against a big strong centre half. What he is doing is using his head and he's drifting into areas, he's getting in between people and that's where he can hurt teams."
