Jevons was a first half sub for Iain Anderson and responded with a super strike to level the game and then convert from the penalty spot to give Town the lead.
Rodger has yet to select Jevons in his starting line-up since Paul Groves was sacked, yet with Anderson now a massive doubt for the Barnsley game Jevons is set to get his chance.
Reflecting on Jevons' first goal Rodger questioned the reaction if a Premier League player had produced such a finish.
"It was a wonderful touch and a wonderful finish and if it had been in the Premier League and on Match of the Day you would have seen it again and again for a fortnight. He's in that role that he can drift in between defenders, and he's got that finish in his armoury," Rodger told Mariners Net.
The battling performance also please Rodger as he saw his side snatch a victory at the death thanks to Simon Ford's header.
"That was massively important," he added. "What we needed to do was to get a result - and we've got a fantastic one.
Rodger praises Jevvo
"It was a joyous, tremendous occasion and after the events of the last few weeks it was nice to get a goal go in for us in the last few minutes."
