'Grezza' has threatened to shake things up since he was given the caretaker position on Monday. One of his first tasks was to ban the players from talking to the media, only captain Stuart Campbell - in the absence of John Mcdermott - was granted dispensation from this.
Rodger himself remained quiet on all issues other than to address the desire that is needed from the players.
Clearly disgusted with the performance at Oldham, Rodger could well make wholesale changes to the team for the visit of the Seagulls. He could also stick with the same eleven, such is the FA Cup medal winners reluctance to drop hints towards his ideas.
"Anybody who is fortunate enough to be in the team tomorrow owes themselves and the fans of this football club a massive performance because after last Sunday no-one is guaranteed a place," Rodger told the Grimsby Telegraph.
"The biggest thing I can do is to get the players to realise that they have to show a desire to win.
"They need to show that and right the wrongs of recent games. It's no good having talent if you haven't got the hard work to match it up.
"We've had a couple of very frank and heated discussions and to a man there were no complaints about what I said to them.
"The talking stops at 3pm tomorrow. We need a big performance and everybody needs to give me the game of their lives."
