Town struggled to get into the dull game and the lack of quality on the ball was evident to see.
Silly mistakes cost Town as the U's ran out 2-0 winners, Rodger admits that they need to be cut out and the passes more effective.
"I am very, very disappointed with the result," Rodger told the Grimsby Telegraph. "There was not a lot in the game. We had some good chances but failure to deal with a couple of balls put into the box has cost us badly. "They have given three performances with endeavour, good attitude and application so it is disappointing that when the game settled down we didn't do enough on the ball.
"We didn't string enough passes together. We didn't keep it flowing, we gave the ball away too often in bad areas and I think they are things we need to be doing much better."
