With every single member of Town's squad, under the age of 24, out of contract the club rushed to make sure offers were made before the May deadline - in order to seek compensation should any player sign elsewhere.
Soames and Hildred are the first to sign their new deals with hopes that they will buck the trend amongst the remaining youngsters.
Soames was close to a breakthrough into the first team last year after a number of impressive cameo's from the bench but injuries again took hold of his season.
Hildred has still to make the first team despite finding himself in the squad on a few occasiosns. The classy midfield will see this as his year to make an impact as one of the few natural talents in a mainly physical league.
Soames has signed a year long deal with Hildred signing for six months.
