Real name Samual Umerah, Sammi arrived on trial in this country earlier this month for Bolton. It was his friendship with Bolton's Nigerian superstar Jay Jay Okocha that led to his trial at the Reebok.
Sammi played in the Trotters pre-season victory over Oldham earlier this week but almost caused a mass brawl on the pitch after a challenge with Mark Arber left the South African defender covered in blood.
Bolton assistant boss Phil Brown shook off any claim that Sammi was responsible.
"There was no malice whatsoever in his challenge and I actually spoke to the referee after the game, as I couldn't believe that he had issued a yellow card for a clash of heads," Brown told the Bolton website. "If he has seen a raised elbow, then it's a sending-off offence but he has given a yellow card for a clash of heads came because of the overreaction of the Oldham player - having seen blood on his face and the crowd's reaction."
Bolton manager Sam Allardyce decided against keeping the 6'5 Nigerian who little is known off other than that last season was spent in the reserves of a German side.
With less than week till the season starts, Sammi will need to make a quick impression on Russell Slade. Sammi is likely to start Monday's friendly at Halifax.
