Enough positive signs came out of last nights game for Slade to be happy about, mainly the performances of his new recruits.
Speaking to the Grimsby Telegraph, Slade praised four of the newboys.
"I was pleased with the lads tonight - the new signings did well," he said.
"Terry (Fleming) showed what he can do and Andy (Parkinson) proved he will be a good asset, while Whittle and Ramsden settled well at the back.
"It was a good workout and it was nice to look at both the contracted players and trialists in a proper match."
