Regarded as one of the best strikers in non-league, Quayle was one of the first players to be linked with Town following Slade's appointment as Town boss.
That specualtion increased over the weekend when Quayle informed the Seadogs he wouldn't be returning for pre-season training, instead he is ready to have a go with a Football League club. A reunion with Slade seemed on the cards.
Slade however has ruled himself out the running for Quayle, who had an unsuccessful trial at Town seven years ago.
"I suppose I will be linked with players I had at Scarborough but Mark is not someone I am pursuing," he told the Grimsby Telegraph.
