The battling 29-year-old suffered a broken leg in March last year during the 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor.
Hopes were that the former West Brom would return in time for the new season. Painfully slow healing of his tibia has delayed his return but he is now ready to go after been told he can increase his workload.
Coldicott joined in his first training session yesterday, as the inquest into the Wycombe game began. And with several new faces at Blundell Park since March, Stace admitted it was a odd experience.
"We did some running yesterday," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "We didn't get any balls out. After the weekend that's to be expected. It was a difficult time to come back but I coped with the running okay. I know that I'm not too far away.
"It was good to be back out there because I haven't had a lot of contact with some of them. I've got to get to know them again now. I'm looking forward to it and the ones I haven't played with seem like good lads.
"I just have to get involved and hopefully help us get some results on the pitch. The whole club could do with a lift.
"It would be great to get back. Sometimes if you're out of it you look in and realise what you're missing.
"But I feel for the boys at the minute. I know how it feels when you're involved and things aren't going your way.
"We've had a couple of bad results, but it's not the end of the world and nobody's panicking. Hopefully we can get a few results this month and pick ourselves up. If we can pick up three points on Saturday that could set us off again."
