Town facing a 'keeper crisis

Pettinger sustained a broken finger in last nights 2-1 Lincs Senior Cup win over Lincoln City. Miles Chamberlian had to wear the unfamiliar goalkeeping jersey as Town held on.

The injury to Pettinger is likely to cause a headache for Paul Groves though. With Paul Fraser out for up to year with horrific injuries sustained during the youth team's game with Bradford, only Bradley Hughes offers backup to Aidan Davison.

Hughes is in the first year of a professional contract after an indifferent first year at the club as a YT. The former Watford youngster seemed destined for a return home in the summer but opted to take up the option of an extra year.

The rookie is likely to be on the bench, if Groves opts for a 'keeper in the 16, on Saturday against Tranmere. But with a hectic Christmas schedule coming up, Groves may well look at loaning a more experienced stopper as cover for Davison.
