Town sat back to defend their lead against the ten men Owls resutling in a dull second half.
Law wasn't pleased with his team's relutance to push forward in the second half, but was delighted with the win that lifts Town out the bottom four.
"It was a flying start, but we knew we had to start at a high tempo and we got into them," Law said.
"We invited them on a little too much in the second half, but it did not have to be pretty. We knew, barring a disaster, that we would not lose.
"It was ugly, but I'd settle for a few more of those this season."
Meanwhile Law's Sheffield Wednesday counterpart Chris Turner slammed his players for a poor showing and warned that the summer will bring a large exodus from the club.
"I apologise to the supporters who travelled to the game. They didn't get what they deserve. I feel responsible, which I should do as a manager, but I just wonder whether some of the players do," he told the clubs official site.
"I'm sure that some of these players, who eventually leave the club, will blame me. But I can't accept that level of performance, and I won't. I stated way back in January that players have to earn their next contract. When they play like that they aren't doing themselves justice."
