Warhurst training with Town

Warhurst is currently registered with Carlisle but unlikely to add to his one subs appearance for the Cumbrians.

The 34-year-old has a distinguished career that has seen him become a real utility player.

After failing to make the grade at Man City, Warhurst moved to Oldham were he established himself as a promising centreback. So much so that Sheffield Wednesday splashed out £750,000 for his services.

It was during the Owls FA Cup run of 1993 that Warhurst was pushed up front to solve an injury crisis. Warhurst's goals helped the Owls to the final only to lose to Arsenal in the replay.

His form attracted the attention of the big spenders of the time Blackburn Rovers. Jack Walkers' millions were used to take Warhurst to Ewood Park for a fee of £2,700,000.

With Rovers Warhurst was used as an attacking midfielder although was far from a regular in the first team. He was part of the squad that won the Premier League in 1995 though.

Moves to Crystal Palace and Bolton followed with a loan spell at Stoke last season.

After leaving Bolton in the summer, Warhurst has spent brief spells with Barnsley and Chesterfield before moving on again.

Whilst his recent history is far from exceptional, the utility man could be the solution to Town's lack of experience in a number of positions.
