Grimsby boss Neil Woods rued the one mistake that gave Notts County a 1-0 victory at Blundell Park. Centre-back Paul Linwood failed to cut out a long clearance from keeper Kasper Schmeichel and Lee Hughes raced through to bag his 22nd goal of the season. "We are very disappointed. I really could not see them scoring. But then the whole game changes on one mistake. We make the mistake and they score," said Woods, whose side has now gone a club record 20 games without a league win. "It's hard to take because I can't question the attitude or workrate of the players, but ultimately the reason why they are near the top is that they don't make those kind of mistakes." "I thought we just edged the first half. It was good game of football and I thought they took a little bit more control of it in the second half. "We had a couple of chances in the first half and one just after half time but the sides in the top half of the table don't give goals away very easily, they make it hard for you to score. And I think you saw today why both teams are where they are in the table. "We were very good for a large part of the game but we switched off and made a mistake and when you have a guy who was scored 20-odd goals he doesn't miss those kind of chances. They did not give us that kind of opportunity and that is a reflection of where both teams are."
