The 21-year-old has found himself falling down the pecking order at Blundell Park in recent weeks. With the exceptional form of Dean Gordon, Justin Whittle and Terrell Forbes - Young at best was on the bench for Town.
Now with Rob Jones and Glen Downey returning from injury and Simon Ramsden a few months away from returning, Young could well struggle for a place in the reserves.
Young will spend a month with the Vics in their battle to avoid relegation from the Conference. Last month they were deducted ten points for falling into adminstration and look odds on to go down.
Young will link up with former Mariner Peter Handyside in the Vics defence and was clearly looking forward to getting some regular first team action having featured just five times for Town this season.
"I jumped at the chance," said Young. "It's a chance for me to play first-team football.
"I'm looking forward to it."
Young's last game for Town was in the 2-0 Carling Cup defeat to Charlton in which he put in an exceptional performance but was still dropped for the next game at Cambridge, with Terrell Forbes available again.
