The 21-year-old had been rumoured with a move to Hartlepool but has instead put pen to paper on his new Mariners deal.
With the departures of Mike Edwards and Simon Ford, Young will be keen to establish himself as a first choice this season under new boss Russell Slade.
No details are as yet known about the length of Young's contract.
