Chesterfield
Introducing the......Spireites

Currently sat rock bottom of the table with four draws and four defeats, Saturday's opposition should be easy meat for Town then eh? Well no, we're hardly in the form of our life and Chesterfield, without a goal in four, are bound to fit the net and get their first win sometime.

After the resignation of physio turned manager Dave Rushbury last season, the experienced Roy McFarland was brought into manage the helm.

The former Derby boss made just three signings in the summer. Powerhouse defender/midfielder Ian Evatt from Derby, pacy wingback Gus Uhlenbeek and veteran midfielder Damon Searle, all free transfers.

McFarland also loaned Charlton striker Mark De Bolla last week but the youngster returned to the Valley injured after just one game.

Team News

Jonny Rowan is almost certain to miss out after picking up a nasty ankle injury against Swindon. Fellow striker David Soames is another doubt leaving Paul Groves short of options.

Darren Mansaram could well return to the first team whilst Gio Carchedi could get a call up. Liam Nimmo is likely to partner Michael Boulding up front.

Des Hamilton is again out with an injury, the former Cardiff man was last seen in the Bank Holiday win over Wycombe before serving a suspension.

Tony Crane could see himself dropped after a poor performance midweek. Ex-Hull defender Mike Edwards will replace him.

Win Odds - 4/5

The Spireites have massive problems up front with Glynn Hurst (back) and David Reeves (calf) still on the sidelines.

Ex-Leeds striker Caleb Folan is a slight doubt with an ankle injury but should be ok to play.

Alan O'Hare also picked up an ankle injury in midweek and is the biggest doubt for McFarland's men. Youngsters Gareth Davies is on standby to start.

McFarland is hoping to bring in a loan striker before Friday's noon deadline. Although having seen the luck Paul Groves has had trying to bring a loan striker in, don't hold your breath on this one.

Win Odds - 3/1

Michael Boulding
Another game, another goal for Boulding in midweek.

Good work by Jonny Rowan and a mess up by Rhys Evans gave Boulding the half chance that he took well despite the ball getting stuck under his feet.

Back on the scoring chart but still not playing that well, have to hope that once he hits form he'll be unstoppable.

First Scorer Odds - 5/1

Chris Brandon
Chesterfield's situation is summed up by the fact that their top scorer is in fact a midfield, an attacking one mind.

Signed from Torquay last summer, the 27-year-old is capable of causing damage, especially when he gets between the midfield and defence.

Key player in the Chesterfield team that knocked Town out the League Cup last season.

First Scorer Odds - 14/1

Remember Me? Roger Willis

Steve Blatherwick
Commanding defender for the Spireites who has become a fans favourite since his £50,000 move from Burnley.

Started his career at Nottm Forest but it was at Saltergate where he established himself.

Has suffered injury problems in recent years but now back to full fitness. Enjoys the odd run upfield as well.

Roger Willis
Striker who signed for Town in 1989 under Alan Buckley. Never got his chance at Town making only a handful of apperances.

Went onto establish himself as a good lower league striker with several clubs, including Chesterfield between 1997 and 2002.

Left last club Stevenage this summer after year which saw four different clubs.
