As expected, Town fielded their reserve team for the game with their counterparts adopting a similar idea.

The only real additions for Town were that of Paul Groves and Simon Ford, with Alan Pouton on the bench.

Town took the lead just before the break. The Imps 'keeper, Jones, fumbled allowing Jevons to flick over his head and into the net.

The break brought an unwanted change for Town. Goalkeeper Andy Pettinger had injured his finger earlier and was unable to continue. Youth team defender Miles Chamberlain replaced him!

Six minutes after the break Jevons again showed his opportunistic skills. Groves' shot was saved but the former Everton man fired in the rebound.

Five minutes later Allan Pearce grabbed a goal back for the Imps, but the third division outfit couldn't find the equalizer.

Halfway through the half the returning Pouton was brought on for Groves. 'Pouts' did little to impress but this was about getting his fitness levels up, and nothing else.

Town will now face Scunthorpe in the final.
