Darren Barnard replaced Greg Young at leftback after his international exploits and week as a media superstar.
Otherwise Town continued as they started against Stockport. Des Hamilton and Michael Boulding both in the line up despite earlier fears.
The only real change to Town's system was that Iain Anderson was moved onto the right wing with Stuart Campbell switching onto the left side.
The West London pitch had taken a lot of rain in the hours leading up to the game and it affected the play.
Early on Iain Anderson was the victim of a late challenge by Michael Dobson. The Scot was barged into the advertising hoarding's and appeared to hit his head. After a long spell of treatment, 'Ando' returned to the field to a round of applause from home and away fans. Dobson seemed to have escaped a booking with the referee taking into account the condition of the pitch.
Moments later though the same referee ignored the conditions as the ball took an unnatural bounce into John McDermott's midriff. Mr Taylor pointed straight to the penalty spot despite furious protests from the Town players.
Stephen Hunt stepped up and sent Davison the wrong way to give his side the lead.
Anderson then brought a fine save from Paul Smith in the Bees' goal from 25 yards. The former Preston man's 25 yard effort seemed destined for the top corner before Smith tipped it away for a corner.
Town began to dominate the play with Wally Downes' pre-match promise of attacking Town looking very flat.
On several occasions Boulding burst away from his man/men only to found support sadly lacking.
Whilst Iffy Onuora was failing to support Boulding, he made up with a fine goal just before the break. Again it was Boulding who broke with pace before feeding Anderson on the wing, his cross was ahead of Onuora who launched himself into a diving header that flew past Smith. Great goal, yes it was Iffy as well. I'm not mistaken.
The goal came at the right time for Town who were buoyed into the second half.
Smith did his reputation no harm early into the half. Onuora and Boulding combined to release Crowe. The former Portsmouth was one-on-one with the 'keeper, it was Smith who came out on top with a fine block. From the rebound Boulding fired goalwards with Smith again blocking. Now Onuora's turn, Smith once more blocked. The loose ball fell to Anderson who fired wide.
A 'hospital ball' from Tony Crane caused panic in the Town defence, McDermott managed to clear but picked up a knock in the process.
Town were by now threatening to run riot and the goal was always going to be around the corner. Paul Groves subbed Anderson with Marcel Cas on 77 mintues. Anderson was far from happy with the decision.
Groves was forced to bring himself on moments later. McDermott failed to recover from his knock and gingerly came off. Groves went into midfield with Crowe dropping to rightback.
Cas' introudction pushed Town into another gear. The Dutchman, who has failed to impress in recent weeks, had a point to prove. And boy did he prove it. His first touch brought another fine save from Smith.
From a Brentford corner Cas used his pace to best effect. Picking the ball up from the clearance he ran deep into the Brentford half before looking up and finding Boulding in space. From there it was simple for Town's top scorer, a wonderful volley left Smith with no chance.
Four minutes later and Cas was at it again. Running through the Brentford team like a knife through hot butter. Again he assisted for Boulding finished from close range in a calm manner.
It was almost three times when Cas burst away before releasing Boulding. With the headlines in his mind, Boulding went for goal but his shot flew over the bar, when Stuart Campbell was probably the better option in space.
The win lifts Town above Brentford and into 15th place
Man of the Match - Michael Boulding. Two goals. That's all that needs saying. 12 so far for Boulding this season, which is his personal best and we're only in November. Give this boy regular support and he will destroy teams. Mentions to Cas for his supersub cameo and Mike Edwards who was excellent throughout (as always).
