As expected, Jason Crowe moved over to left back to replace Darren Barnard with Iain Anderson returning on the wing.

Brighton included the in-form Leon Knight in their team. The former Chelsea man went into the game at the top of the divisional scoring charts.

The Seagulls started the better of the two teams with some stern defending required from Town early on. Crane and Davison both proving effective as Knight and co were kept at bay.

Town slowly got into the game with both Onuora and Boulding going close with headers.

Brighton's on loan midfielder Zesh Rehman tried his chances from long range but Daivson backtracked to his goal in plenty of time to deny the Fulham man.

Chris McPhee went over the challenge of Mike Edwards in the area but referee Keith Hill waved away the appeals.

Des Hamilton's free-kick provided Town with their best chance of the half. 'Disco' whipped the ball into the box where Crane's close range header lacked the conviction to beat Kuipers in the Brighton goal.

Slack defending allowed Knight a sight on goal, the little man put his effort over the bar though. A feat repeated by Onuora at the other end moments later.

The remainder of the half was then reduced to long range efforts, none of which brought any success. Anderson and Campbell taking Town's stabs at goal.

Just before the break, Crane went down holding his thigh after an awkward landing.

At the break Paul Groves would no doubt been happy with his sides performance and the containment of Brighton's flowing football.

9 minutes into the second half and Town were undone all inside 2 minutes. First Michael Boulding was brought down in the area only for Hill to wave play on. The cleared ball resulted in a corner, from which Rehman fired the ball past Davison for his 2nd goal in 3 games since signing on loan.

A minute later the lead was doubled. Gary Hart's cross was met by Knight who was given a second chance after Davison's fine save. Knight didn't hesitate on the second, 2-0.

With game more or less over, Groves replaced Crane with Greg Young. Crane appeared to be ok but the first half knock may have had an influence in the decision.

Later on Groves brought David Soames and Graham Hockless on for Boulding and Anderson as the game died out. Onuora's attempted lob proved to be the only worthy note until injury time.

McPhee's twisting and turning caused problems for Young who eventually brought down his man. Knight stepped up to fire home from 12 yards to cap off a poor day for Town.
